Though brushless motor is a hyped trend for rc helicopter, still number of your collection are equipped as brush motors. Don’ t be sad, here is a guide to increase the power and efficiency of your brush motors by breaking-in.
The whole concept is easy to understand, is to wear the square shape of brushes into round shape under a low-voltage, no-load situation.
And the process will be happened in this way. Start the motor with less than 1/2 operating voltage for 1-2 hours, and break-in the motor by make it spin in the direction as it will turn. By connecting 2 alkaline AA cell in series and let it run dry, there will be enough electricity for the motor mods.

Problems on Stock Brushed Motors
Since most of the heat comes from the resistance of carbon soot which is non conductive. This imply energy waste on heat instead of power of your heli. The carbon buildup is also the cause of the dropping fight times. There is even cases reported that it could result in burn-out to ESC or battery by causing current spikes.

Esky Balancing Pole EK1-0401
A victim said he ordered the E-sky balancing pole EK1-0401 from a Hong Kong seller on Ebay. Turns out he found that the hole of the balancing pole is too small and the relative part on heli is too big so that the pole can not be fitted. Also, the hexagon shape on the neck is missing, only appears as a round shape.

On the manufacturer website, it stated that the genuine product should have a label with 2 barcodes on it instead of only one barcode.

Countless Blade mSR pilots experienced Toilet Bowl Effect (TBE), if there is a ranking for TBE among remote control helicopters, then mSR must be the champion. See?

What is Toilet Bowl Effect (TBE)?
It describe a helicopter flying as if inside a toilet bowl, can hardly be controlled against an invisible downward whirlpool. Without pilot input, it still move rapidly in circle of 10cm-1m diameter.
How to solve Toilet Bowl Effect?
Since there are couple of causes were being found, we have to investigate the possible causes one by one before we fix it. Read the rest of this entry »

Solutions is always more than problems. The blade mSR swashplate mod with shortened arms mentioned earlier does work, however, here is a shortcut for it! This modification will improve your heli as good as previous Shortened Swashplate Arms Mod, in the way that enhancing more cyclic throw and response.
The idea is simple, just replace the stock swashplate with 4#3B metal swashplate! This is how it looks like after mod.

Watch how it fly indoor first!

Fake Futaba Gyro & Servo
If you are RC Helis Pilots, especially flying Align T-rex 500, must have to pay attention to this piece. We may always search for cheaper parts to lower the cost on this hobby, but there are counterfeit Futaba Servos being spotted on eBay and other sites, they are GY401, S9254 and S9257. Though this was happened in last year, it is enough for us to learn from history.
In July 2009, Futaba Japan published the news about inflow of counterfeit goods to market officially. www.rc.futaba.co.jp/hobby/info_090717.pdf
This document stated that the imitation parts are function well, and will make your remote control helicopter crash easily.
Distinguish the counterfeit
The easiest way to distinguish it is from the color of metal connections of plug, counterfeits are silver, genuine are gold.

Swashplate Arms Shortening
It is a hyped mod for E-flite Blade mSR, for which enhancing more cyclic throw and response to this rc helicopter. Though mSR is very stable when hovering, many pilots are not satisfy with the stock setting that limit the potential performance of it.
If you manage this remote control helicopter well enough, you should go for this mod. As this would be one of the most important modifications to optimize mSR’s performance. The cyclic stick sensitivity will be like doubled, low-rate is like stock full-rate, while full-rate will bring your heli to a brand new level regarding to agility. This mod improve handling, enhance outdoor flips and rolls, perform better in windy condition, steeper banking, quicker FFF and stopping ability. Even manage nose-dive well during FF without losing momentum or swinging back.
mSR Short Arms Mods
It is a must to use new swashplate for this modification, because the bearing and ball hub tend to wear out, thus affect the cyclic response significantly. First, take out the swashplate, cut the arms 1.5-2mm shorter than stock.

It’ s better to put a stock swashplate aside during the modification for reference. Then glue them back with CA and adding some pressure, it will bond and hold.
